There are several learn to skate programs hosted at the TRAC. The first thing you need to decide is if you are looking for only ice skating, or are you looking to learn the basics of hockey as well as learning to skate? See below for more information on both options.
Ice Skating/Figure Skating
If you are looking for only ice skating, then you will want to register with Syracuse Figure Skating Club. They host the Learn to Skate USA program at the TRAC.
Learn to skate is for ages 3 and up.
Learn to Skate runs in 8-week sessions. Times of the 8-week sessions are subject to change. Please see the Syracuse Figure Skating Website for any changes.
Where are practices and games typically held?
Example: Practices and home games are held at the RecPlex. Games may be played across the metro region.
When are practices and how often are they?
Example: Teams practice 2-3 times per week.

Hockey Beginner Programs
Lysander Youth Hockey has 2 programs for kids who want to learn to skate and play hockey!
- The Mini Mites Program is intended for children 8 and under who want to learn to skate and the basics of hockey while having fun.
- The Lightning Rookies program for all older kids up to age 14 who want to try hockey for the first time.
No skating or hockey experience needed for either program!
Mini Mites is for ages 3-8
Lightning Rookies is for ages 9-14
The beginner programs typically run all year round broken up into several sessions.
